Online trauma therapy across Washington State
Compassionate, trauma-informed counseling for trauma, anxiety and overwhelm, held live by secure Zoom video from wherever you feel safe.
What is trauma-informed care?
Trauma is not only about what happened. It is also about how your body and mind adapted to survive it. Trauma-informed care starts from that understanding. Instead of asking “what is wrong with you?”, it asks “what happened, and what do you need now to feel safe?”
In practice, that means you set the pace, nothing is forced, and you always have a say in what we focus on. The goal is to help your nervous system learn that the danger has passed, so you can feel more present, connected and in control.
Signs of trauma in adults
- Feeling on edge, jumpy or unable to relax
- Nightmares, trouble falling asleep or waking in distress
- Panic attacks or sudden waves of anxiety
- Avoiding people, places or memories
- Feeling numb, disconnected or “not yourself”
- Strong reactions that seem bigger than the situation
- Difficulty trusting others or setting boundaries
What online sessions look like
Early sessions focus on understanding your story and building safety, with skills to calm your body when stress rises. As you feel steadier, we work through difficult experiences and the beliefs they left behind, and practice new ways of responding. Sessions last 50 to 60 minutes on Zoom, and many clients find it easier to open up from the comfort of home.
Approaches we use
- Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to untangle unhelpful thought patterns
- Mindfulness to stay grounded in the present moment
- Somatic (body-based) skills to release tension the body holds
- Breathing and grounding techniques for moments of anxiety or panic
